A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Groups

Unfortunately we are currently unable to welcome pre-booked group visits due to social distancing measures. When we reopen for groups, we can offer a free introductory talk, plus free admission for the group leader. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and book a time and date.

Schools

School visits are free of charge and must be booked in advance. Further information is available in our Learning Programme.

Family Workshops

We run regular activities on Saturday afternoons and workshops during school holidays. For more information, see What’s On.

The perfect place for morning coffee, a light lunch or afternoon tea with delicious homemade cakes. Food freshly prepared to order. During your visit, relax for a while in our licensed cafe, with its sunny terrace overlooking the park.

The History of Penlee

Our origins as a museum date back to 1839. As a building, Penlee House dates from 1864 and was originally the home of the Branwell family. The house and park were bought for the town after the Second World War.
