A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Penlee House is owned and operated by Penzance Council.

As part of Cornwall Museums Partnership, Penlee House receives National Portfolio Organisation funding from Arts Council England. This funding is used to support public engagement projects.

Cornwall Council provides an annual grant to assist the running costs of the Gallery.

Penlee House has gratefully received support to extend and make accessible its collections from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (formerly Heritage Lottery Fund), Art Fund, the ACE/V&A Purchase Grant scheme and the Friends of Penlee House.

In 2019-20 Penlee House has received funding from Tesco Bags of Help, Little Parc Owles Trust and the Friends of Penlee House for its educational activities.

How can I support Penlee House?

You can support Penlee House by joining or making a donation to the Friends of Penlee House. All admission charges help to fund our running costs, collections care and educational programmes. All purchases in the Orangery Café and in our shop help to support the gallery too!
