A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Our education and outreach services

Schools are invited to bring their students to the galleries. Please contact the Education and Outreach Officer to discuss your requirements and to book a slot.

Schools Visits

All school visits are free of charge and must be booked in advance.

School workshops

Our workshop programme is designed to link with the National Curriculum. If you are studying a particular topic that is not listed, we are happy to tailor our workshops to suit your requirements.

Brief introductory talks

We can organise an introductory talk about the gallery and its exhibitions. This is free to all school groups and can be tailored to a specific area of study by prior arrangement.

Teacher pre-visits

Organise a visit for yourself prior to bringing your students. We welcome pre-visits by teachers who are bringing groups to the gallery.


A member of Penlee House staff or one of our education volunteers can visit schools. Using artefacts and costume from our handling collection. We will work in conjunction with the class teacher, to lead an object handling session.


We appreciate your feedback. We welcome any comments on your experience of visiting Penlee House. After attending a schools workshop, we will provide you with an evaluation form. We will use your comments to improve our services.
