Penlee Inspired Online 2020: A Digital Exhibition

Welcome to our first digital exhibition! Penlee Inspired Online 2020 celebrates the public’s artistic responses to Penlee House’s collections of art and artefacts.

During Lockdown we invited the public to get creative at home using the collections at Penlee House as inspiration and we have been amazed by the response. Entrants have produced paintings, photographs, drawings, poetry, prose and more! Some have been inspired by our weekly Penlee Inspired Challenges, shared through social media; some through our series of ‘Invitations to Create’ videos; and some by their memories of visits to the Gallery.

With close to a hundred entries, we have arranged the exhibition by the original painting or object from the collections. This allows you to see the pieces which inspired our contributors alongside their works. It also highlights the variety of responses to each painting or object, the wealth of creativity amongst our participants, and the enduring power and relevance of the earlier artworks.
