A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

IDENFIFICATION

Full Name: coloured lithograph

Brief Description: This is a coloured engraving by J S Prout of Greenmarket, Penzance and was printed and published by J P Vibert in 1831. Left to right are two figures with baskets by a raised, possible drained, area; an inn with a raised storey; a shopping arcade (Polkinghorne) with a stall outside; the market cross from which Penzance Borough extended half a mile; scrolled roof edging; woman fetching water from the chute; oil or gas lamp.
