Brief Description: This is one of only a few large oil paintings produced by Walter Langley and was completed for exhibition at the Royal Academy. In the 1880s, watercolour paintings were not readily accepted at the Royal Academy and Langley was forced to produce works in oil. However, he continued to paint watercolours as it was this medium which he found easiest to sell.
