A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

A Mount’s Bay Fishing Village (Mousehole)

IDENFIFICATION

Full Name: watercolour painting

Brief Description: Shows Mousehole before the extension to the pier was built and before extensive changes happened in the village. In the late 1880s, there was major building work and the construction of two large non-conformist churches. The painting shows many buildings which no longer exist and the 1838 harbour of this fishing port. Watercolour and bodycolour with scratching out.
