Volunteering Opportunities

There are many different ways to get involved with Penlee House's work, and we offer a range of fulfilling opportunities for volunteers at all career stages.

The galleries are invigilated by volunteer Stewards, each covering a half-day shift running either from 10.00 - 1.30 or from 1.30 - 5.00, with a 15 minute break for a complimentary drink and slice of cake from our Orangery cafe. We have a core of around 100 Stewards, and commitment ranges from more than once a week to less than once a month, depending on the time each chooses to give. If you think you might be interested in Stewarding for us, please contact David Trevivian on 01736 363625 for further details.

We also welcome help with other aspects of our work, including researching and data-inputting information on our collections, assisting with education workshops and a variety of specialist support roles relating to our collections (e.g. archaeology, natural history, textiles). Please contact us on 01736 363625 or email us at if you feel you have skills to offer and would like to get involved.
