Penlee House is committed to lifelong learning. We offer a range of educational support for all ages:
For more information about our Saturday family activities, holiday workshops or workshops for adults, please visit the What's On page.
School group visits to Penlee House are FREE, but must be booked in advance. Due to the size of our gallery spaces, it may be necessary to split a class into two, one group upstairs and one group downstairs, and then swap them around.
For all school visit enquiries please contact the Education and Outreach Officer, Zoe Burkett. Telephone 01736 363625 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A short introductory talk about the gallery and it's exhibitions is available free to all school groups; this can be targeted to a specific area of study by prior arrangement. The introduction also covers aspects of Health and Safety and housekeeping.
For information on our standard workshops please visit the Workshops page. We are very happy to tailor our workshops to meet your requirements or to work on more specific partnership projects. Please contact the Education and Outreach Officer to discuss your needs.
A member of Penlee House staff or one of our education volunteers can visit schools and, in conjunction with the class teacher, lead an object handling session, using artefacts and costume from our handling collection.
We welcome pre-visits by teachers or group leaders who are bringing groups to the gallery. Please contact the Education and Outreach Officer to arrange a time.
We welcome any comments on your experience of visiting Penlee House; please contact us. Groups attending schools workshops at Penlee House will be provided with an evaluation form after their visit; we appreciate any feedback and use comments to improve our services.
