Unused printed invitation to a ball to celebrate the opening of the Festival of Britain 1951, from his Worship the Mayor and the Mayoress: Alderman and Mrs Thurston T. Lane. Guests are asked to accompany them to the Ball, which will be held at St John's Hall, Penzance, on Friday 4th May 1951. Reception is 8.30pm to 9pm, with dancing 9pm to 2am with a licensed bar. Tickets are 1 to include buffet supper in Garden lounge.To the bottom left-hand corner 'Proceeds to British Empire Cancer Campaign'. To the bottom right-hand corner 'R.S.V.P by April 27th, to Mayoress, Mayor's Parlour. ' Black print on card, with two punch holes along the top edge. To the top of the document is the printed Borough of Penzance coat of arms in blue.
