A photograph of a double picture of John Branwell, eldest son of JR and Elizabeth Branwell. Elizabeth Trewhella notes how there were no twins in the family, therefore this is an example of John's experimentation with photography, which was an interest of his. Taken against a plain background, the two John's sit in chairs facing each other. The John to the right has a fading hand and legs, showing how the level of exposure has been played with.

A photograph of (from left) JR Branwell, an unknown man and woman, Edith Branwell, Alfred Branwell and an unknown girl. Elizabeth Branwell is seated in front. They are standing to the south side of Penlee House, with the bay window of the drawing room to the right. Unlike PEZPH : 1993.45.64, in which the party seems a little less prepared for the taking of the photograph, John Branwell, the eldest son of JR Branwell who lived at Penlee House, is now not part of the picture and is most likely behind the camera.

A photograph of two jousters and a fish-wife 'gutting the catch' in the courtyard of a cottage in Newlyn. The unknown lady and man standing to the right picking pilchards (fairmaids) out of a wicker basker, which is placed on a table. The man to the left uses an instrument to press the fish into a wooden barrel, wearing waterproof trousers and a soft-brimmed hat. The woman wears an apron, shawl and similar soft-brimmed hat. The pilchards were salted down and pressed into barrels, much of the catch being sent to Italy.
