Paper passport belonging to John Richards Branwell, dated 21st May 1858 and signed by the Earl of Malmesbury. Issue number is 5487 and on the reverse are stamps for the French Consulate, and two for the British Consulate in Nantes. Bears the Coat of Arms for Britain and the Earl. Accompanied by an envelope bearing the words 'Grandpa's passport, 1858', written by Vera (Hancock), his granddaughter and another envelope bearing a description of the contents, written by her daughter, Elizabeth Trewhella, 1992.
