Notes:

This view shows fishing boats landing on the beach where they laid out the nets to dry. The two small dinghies can be used for access at high tide. Mooring here saved the fishermen paying harbour dues. The slip leads to Newlyn Town - note the proximity of the houses to the sea and the lack of railings. The turning on the right is Trewarveneth Street where there is an old manor house on the left. The area to the right became known as Artist' s Corner because of the number of resident artists there at the turn of the twentieth century.

View from Newlyn beach up the slip to Newlyn Town, one of many images of the Penzance area taken by Robert Preston and contained within an album.
