Notes:

The Stonechat is a characteristic species of rough patches, coastal gorse and heathland where its call which resembles pebbles being knocked together, gives the bird its name. It feeds on insects, spiders and worms. Numbers are severely depleted by hard winters, but they quickly increase again.
