A short distance from this town a Pyramid was erected by the eccentric John Knill Esq in 1811. At his death, left certain freeholds to defray the expenses. Every five years an old woman and ten girls, under the age of fourteen and dressed in white, parade from the Market Place around this Pyramid and dance and sing the 100th Psalm. They also went to the port collector and minister for a dinner.
