The Friends of Penlee House were formed under the auspices of Penzance
Town Council in 1987 and became a Registered Charity (No.1001644) in
1991, with the object of "supporting Penzance Town Council in providing
and improving public education and cultural facilities at Penlee House
for the benefit of the community".
The Friends provide:
- Help with day-to-day running of the gallery and museum by acting
as room stewards and guides.
- Help with arranging lectures, events and exhibitions which encourage
the public to make full use of the gallery and museum.
- Support for the educational work of the gallery and museum, encouraging
children in particular to take a pride in their local environment,
its beautiful countryside and its wildlife.
- Funds to assist with the purchase of objects which will help preserve
and interpret the heritage of West Cornwall.
The benefits of becoming a Friend:
- Free admission to Penlee House all year round
- 10% discount in the gift shop
